We are deeply sorry for your loss - the staff at Holley Funeral Home
Patsy Ruth Waldroop Cote was born on July 19, 1928 in Mangum, Oklahoma to Pearl and Hubert Waldroop and went to be with her Lord, Jesus Christ on June 7, 2022.
Her family moved from Oklahoma to Idaho and later on to Paulsbo, WA during the Dust Bowl. During WWII, she helped the war effort by working in the Bremerton, WA ship yard building ship doors. (She was a Rosie the Riveter!) After the war, she met Arthur George Cote and they eloped on February 21, 1946. They had four children: Earl, Sharon, Jacqueline, and Candice and later adopted their first granddaughter, Shawna when she was three. They raised their children in New Mexico and Nevada while Art worked for the Atomic Energy Commission, and after his retirement settled down in Vigo Park and Happy, TX, to farm. Throughout her life, Pat was a sales representative for many companies from Minnesota Woolen to Sanrio toys. Her outgoing personality, easy laughter, and smile made it so there was always a friend to be made no matter where she was. After Art’s death in 2008, she moved to Bradenton, FL, so she could be close to her sister, Fern Horigan. She returned to Happy, TX in the summer of 2020, to be close to her daughter, Jacque’s, family and in her words, “I’ll stay in Happy, until I go around the corner to be with Art.” (who is buried in the Happy, TX cemetery.)
Her passions were God, her family and her Church and she loved a good pun!
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Art, all of her brothers and sisters: Earl, William, and Billy Waldroop, Fern Horigan, and Mildred Johnson, her son, Earl Cote, and her two daughters, Sharon Haselow and Candice Cote, and her cousins: Mable and Bayard Sadler, Jack Thompson, D.R. Waldroop, Margaret Simmons, Jack Waldroop, and Christine Knight. What a wonderful reunion in heaven is going on right now!
She is mourned and missed by her daughters and their spouses: Jacqueline and Don Koetter and Shawna and Ken Peek, her daughter in law and her husband: Pat and Evert Oldham, her son in law, Harvey Morris, her grandchildren and their spouses: Greg Cote & Stacey Goodall, Eric Cote, Kim and David Binyon, Will Cote, Shane and Missy Morris, Cody Morris, Jadawna and Aaron Freeman, Chris and Annette Grochowski, Michael and Tanya Grochowski, Deardra Cote, Ethan Peek and Emmitt Peek, by her 13 great grandchildren, and her 8 great great grandchildren, her cousins Ava Beth Thompson and Raymond and Marge Waldroop, and by all those that knew and loved her, especially from her Church Families in Vigo Park, Happy, and Sarasota, FL.
The family is asking in lieu of flowers and greenery, that you make a donation in her name to the Church of Christ in Happy, TX to support their missions and orphanages in their community, in their country, and overseas. Thank you so very much.
