Leonard Cecil “Larry” Knadle Jr went to be with his Lord and Maker on December 29, 2023.
Larry was born on March 10, 1938 in Longmont Colorado to Leonard Cecil and Rose Knadle.
He graduated from the University of Colorado, with a degree in Marketing and was an avid fan of the Buffaloes the rest of his life.
He was a longtime Roswell NM resident and best known for the clothing store Knadle’s which he ran with his family until it closed in 1986. He was a civic leader in Rotary where he earned a Paul Harris Fellow and lived the motto of the Rotary Club ‘Service above Self’. He was active in the Community Kitchen in Roswell, Friends of Bitter Lake NWR, SE NM Historical society, and volunteered at the Panhandle Plains Historical Museum after moving to Canyon to be closer to his grandchildren. He was an accomplished organist and played on Sundays in his church throughout his adult life.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Richard and son in law Patrick Howell.
He is survived by his brother David Knadle and sister Suzi Glass of Roswell NM, wife of 61 years, Emmalee, of Canyon, his daughter, Amy Howell, of Canyon, sons Gregory, of Falls Church VA, and Steven, of Canyon, Grandchildren Matthew and his wife Kylie Howell of Canyon, Zachary Howell, of Chicago IL, and Jillian Howell, of Bloomington MN, Haley Graham and her husband Andrew of Ft. Worth Tx, Michael Jones of Amarillo, and Nathanael Knadle of Canyon. Great grandchildren Benjamin Howell and Kellen Graham.
The family suggests memorials be donation to the Community Kitchen of Roswell NM or your favorite charity.
Services will be on Friday, February 2 at 2 PM, Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 6900 Hillside Rd, Amarillo 79109
