LINDA VONCILE (FOGG-LEWIS) WHITAKER

November 1, 1942 ~ April 4, 2022 (age 79)

Obituary

Linda Voncile Fogg-Lewis Whitaker.  Linda gained her wings on April 4, 2022 surround by her family after an illness with Parkinson.

Linda was born in Amarillo, Texas on 11/1/1942 to Jack B Fogg and Frances Lee Crawford Fogg.  She was raised by her mother and step-father Robert Lee Lewis.  Linda graduated from Amarillo High in 1960. On June 4, 1960 she married the love of her life, Johnnie Ray Whitaker in Amarillo at East Amarillo Church of Christ.  They immediately left Amarillo and moved to Limestone, Maine.  While in Limestone, they were blessed with their first daughter, Virginia (Jinger) Kaye.  They lived in Limestone for 2 more years and then returned to Amarillo and were again blessed with another daughter, Francis (Francie) Elizabeth.  A couple of years later, once again, blessed with another daughter, Cheryl Voncile.  In 1971 the Whitaker family moved to Plainview, Texas where they raised their girls.  Linda was active in banking while they lived in Plainview.  They were very active in many social activities in Plainview and long time members of 9th & Columbia Church of Christ.  In 1984 John and Linda returned to Amarillo and Linda was manager of Bluebonnet Savings and Loan.  After the closing of the savings and loan, Linda got her Real Estate License and joined Jinger and Francie at ERA Courtyard Real Estate selling real estate and helping the girls build their businesses.

John and Linda travelled extensively throughout the years, especially once John retired.  They had many adventures together and with their family.  Through holidays, travel, Sunday dinners the memories are endless.  While the girls were the center of their world, once the grandkids came along they were absolutely head over heels in love with those kids.  And then the great-grandkid came into the picture it was even more fun, ice cream, chocolate, spoiling and silliness.  She was lovingly called Grandma Boo by the grands.

During the past couple of years John took extremely good care of his beloved Linda.  He told all the kids often that it was his job to take care of her.  He took his vows to her very seriously and fulfilled them totally.

Linda is preceded in death by her parents, Jack Fogg, Robert (Bob) Lewis and Frances Lewis. Her great granddaughter, Lainey Abigail Stout. And several adored uncles, aunts and cousins.

Linda is survived by her husband of 61 years, John Whitaker of Amarillo, TX, daughters Jinger White and husband Shane of Amarillo, TX, Francie Money and husband Tom of Canyon, TX, Cheryl Haynes and husband Phil of Amarillo TX.  Grandchildren: Tucker Ward and wife Krista, Mallory Wilson and husband Frank, Ty Stout and wife Rachel, Tate White, Madison Money, Marley Haynes, and Beau Haynes.  Great-Grandchildren: Gracelynn Wilson, Abraham Goss, Treyson Ward, Dayson Saenz, Zeke Stout, Tatum Ward, Malachi Wilson, Oliver White and Lincoln Ward.  She is also survived by her very best friends Kay Vallance, Sue Ellen Liles, Janeen Williams, and Lou Osborn.  Never a dull moment with Linda and her friends.  Special thank you’s to BSA Hospice for their special care of Linda these past months.
