Juanita was born on May 14,1939, in Amarillo, Texas to Domingo and Esperanza De La Garza. She graduated from St. Mary’s Catholic High School and obtained her nursing degree from St. Anthony’s School of Nursing in 1960. She married TB Baca on June 26,1960 and they had three sons together. Juanita’s nursing career was one to be proud of and lasted approximately 50 years. Her career included teaching and practicing as a nurse in Amarillo, TX. She was honored to serve as a nurse for one year in Saudi Arabia. Juanita enjoyed teaching and presenting for an International Nurse’s academy and was a faithful member of several nursing associations. She took great pride in the care she provided her patients and was well respected by her peers in the medical field.
Juanita was a member of both Our Lady of Guadalupe in Amarillo and St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Canyon. She loved singing in the choir and helping around the church as often as she could. Juanita traveled often with her career and would take Mark and Ray with her. These experiences had a lasting impact on both boys. She fiercely loved her sons, grandkids, and her work. As the only son for the last 35 years, Ray was her absolute pride and joy. She was always excited to tell anyone about his most recent coaching accomplishments. Ray worked hard to ensure she received the absolute best care in her final years. Juanita was very loved!
Juanita is survived by her son, Ray Baca and his wife Kate of Canyon, her grandchildren Christopher Baca of New Braunfels, Ryan Baca of Fort Worth, Michellie Baca of Canyon, Regan and Reece Baca and her great-granddaughter Nora, all of Canyon.
