John (Johnny) Martin Matthews Junior, 57 of Canyon, Tx, passed away on September 8, 2022.
Johnny was born in Parma, OH on March 6, 1965 to Sarah Havran and John Matthews Senior.
Johnny married Vicki Yvonne Wilson Matthews on January 18, 1992 and together they had 4
children, Jayson Whitlow, Jeremy Whitlow, Kyla Matthews Lay, and Michael Matthews.
Johnny worked as a restaurant general manager for 20 years, his most recent position as a
nutrition manager at Medical Lodge of Amarillo where he was able to visit his mom regularly and
make sure she was always taken care of. He enjoyed going to Southeast Park to feed the ducks
and fish with his puppy dog, Luna, and his grandson, Jayden. He adored talking about his
children and grandchildren and how proud he was of each of them. He spent his nights bonding
with his wife, Vicki, over their love of baseball, specifically when the Astros played, and football.
He also enjoyed jamming out on his 12-string guitar with his son, Michael, and singing in the
living room with his family as they played together. When he was bored, he would make a trip
around Canyon to play Ingress with his smurf friends and go have coffee with them any chance
he got. He loved nature and caring for his yard and his garden. He wanted nothing less than to
feed the world and loved hosting mass buffet-style dinners and cooking for his friends and
family as often as he could, a favorite among the family being his stir-fry.
He is survived by his mother, Sarah, his wife, Vicki, of 30 years, children Jayson (wife Dory),
Jeremy (wife Michelle), Michael (wife Joanna), and Kyla (husband Sam); siblings include
brothers David and Thomas Havran, and sister, Joy Havran and their children; grandchildren

Gibson (husband Ben), Allan Price, Alex Bond, Joshua Whitlow, Alicia Whitlow, and is expecting
