Obituary

One of West Texas most honorable and humble girls' basketball coaches, Daniel “Danny” Hall Wrenn, passed away peacefully on Thursday,

Services will be on Thursday, February 2, at 11:00AM, at the First Baptist Church, in Plainview, TX. Interment at 3:00PM, at Happy Cemetery, Happy, TX.

January 26, 2023. Born on December 31, 1959 in Seminole, Texas, Danny was the son of Willbanks Charles “Big Daddy” Wrenn and Patricia Ann (Kerschbaumer) Wrenn. Danny spent 33 years coaching the Plainview High School Lady Bulldogs winning 3 State Championships from 2001 - 2003. The basketball court in The Dog House was recently renamed, Danny Wrenn Court, to reflect the outstanding accomplishments of the program. Danny was one of the first inductees into the Plainview Athletics Hall of Honor in September of 2022. The honors, accolades, and records are great, but the man behind all that was greater than the game of basketball. Danny’s impact went much deeper than wins and losses. The positive influence, life lessons, and “family” traditions that were built from year to year and team to team are evident in the love he had for the game. With suit and tie, his players, families, and coaches respected the morals he instilled in the program. In the toughest of games, his optimism and kindness was unmatched even through the foot stomping and “gosh ol’ Friday’s.” He loved his family and watching his daughter, Reagan, compete in a variety of sports; a father-daughter bond that ended way too soon. He was so much more than a coach and will always be remembered for his tremendous influence on those around him. Danny loved the Lord and had a deep relationship with Him. He is now whole rejoicing with His Jesus. Danny is survived by his wife, Randa and daughter, Reagan Brooke, of Lubbock; brother William Charles, of Happy; cousin William Scott and wife, Eva, of Pittsburgh; cousin Patricia Brooke Foster and former husband, Todd Foster of Pittsburgh; second-cousins MacKenzie Brooke Foster and Kristian Scott Kerschbaumer. The family asks donations be sent to the Plainview Educational Foundation in memory of Danny. Donations can be mailed to: Plainview Education Foundation In Memory of Danny Wrenn P.O. Box 574 Plainview, TX 79073
